I am wordless, regarding the help this class has already given me. I truly needed new tools to help me more maturely navigate my life with its chronic and insipid small tussles...with the little bit of reading and discussing we have been doing, I have already applied it to two situations where I have had to A) be the bad ass for months (advocating for quality, compassion, legalities and respect

Now, back to the readings this week: difficulties on pages 117-128-- I had the same white out feeling in biology with lab last semester--total overload on terms. So much so I spent most of my time rereading my definition notes to see what I was reading about and forget the context. I could have used one of those WebMD if this, then this diagrams, I felt like an acute dunce.
The discussion in class always helps. I must be an auditory learner.
Amen.

For my on-line class I have the following rules. I like #7 since it addresses smart asses like the ones you deal with..little pissy gamma males no doubt...
------
As I already explained in the last thread, I am not a P.C. kind of guy. But I also do not tolerate outright racism or bigotry in class. IF you say something to someone to offend on purpose you will be sanctioned.
So the rules of debate/discussion:
1. Do not attack the person (Well, you're stupid and your mom dresses you funny).
2. You are expected to be polite to your fellow students, especially if you don't know them. Take your best shot, by all means, but attack the idea, not the individual.
3. Stick to the topic at hand.
4. Cross-comments, off-topic comments, and comments that violate da rules will usually be deleted. If your comment gets deleted, deal with it. Don't try to argue with me about it, I'm truly not interested. If you have a serious problem with the deletion of a comment, then email me.
5. If you disagree with an opinion have a counter argument. You are expected to back up your assertions, so don't be surprised if you happen to get called on them. If you are asked a direct question relevant to the topic, then you will be expected to answer it in a straightforward and non-evasive manner. The dishonest and evasive tactics that are so common in Internet argumentation are not permitted here.
6. Know that not everyone will agree with you.
7. You will be addressed in the style you choose. If you come here slinging insults and acting disrespectfully, you will be treated with a contemptuous and derisive disdain that will probably upset you. This is particularly true for students who are under the impression, mistaken or not, that they are far more intelligent than the average individual here. If instead, you elect to offer substantive and civil commentary, then you will meet with a similarly civil response.
As always let me know if you have any questions.
Also if you are joking, maybe a little ;-) or :-) or a :-p or something to let us know, just in case.
If you are sarcastic (like me) and like to use sarcasm (like me) but sometimes your sarcasm does not translate well on-line (like mine), please make sure you use the "sarcasm off" symbol: \s\
I have a number of rules for my on line class, just to keep the pissy little gamma males like the ones you are dealing with at bay.
These are my favorites...
